recovery

Monster is nearly over his self-inflicted abuse this weekend.

We went out after work to the Tin Drum Cafe, which was much nicer than I expected - a good soundtrack for what is essentially a simple (fast) food diner. I admit I was thrilled to see the David Sylvian photo used as a motif for the restaurant.

Morning, Noon, and Night After

Thank you to everyone who came to our home. We had a great time hosting the Taurus Potluck last night. Maybe just a little too much fun for one birthday boy. Monster (now known as Mr. Throbby-Head) is still feeling rather tender now. He's not been outside the house all day but has at least moved from the bed to the sofa. Many beers were sampled last night, followed by Tigger Juice (also dubbed "Genius Juice" by Chaz). As soon as everyone left the house, Monster went to bed and I cleaned up the house and patio so there would be nothing to face in the morning (and hopefully not much to attract pests).

When I headed out the door to deposit trash outside, there were two bottles of Gatorade sitting by the door, placed by a very kindly soul for Mr. Throbby-Head. Thank you very much for that.

As usual, I woke up with the sun a bit before 8AM and cleaned up a bit more, watched Sunday Morning, and watered the garden. I gave Mr. Throbby-Head a glass of Gatorade and a Nuprin for breakfast and then went out to brunch with the _gothfather_, pitbullpotpie (who I am now convinced is indestructable), Foster and aesthetic.

Came back from brunch and made a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup for Mr. Throbby-Head.

Tomorrow will be a long day when the sleep deprivation catches up with me.

I must try to sleep now.

Spring Cleaning

In anticipation of having folks over to the house now, we filled 22 leaf bags yesterday. This morning the City of Atlanta kindly took all of our yard refuse away. Hooray!
Today, Monster is spreading fresh pine straw and fixing the "water feature".

And now, for the house...

cabin fever

It has been one long, boring day.
Monster worked on reuphostering and repairing chairs all day while watching "The Stand" on SciFi Channel.
I went out twice, both time bringing home groceries. Our fridge is now stocked for frozen dinners.
I should have gone to brunch with the GothFather, but there was an option for either the Dogwood Festival or RollerGirls, both of which fizzled out.
I had Monster, who has been very difficult to live with this weekend, make me two chocolate raspberry martinis. I feel better now. Half jigger white creme de cacao and one jigger raspberry vodka. Lovely. Like a liquid chocolate truffle.

atrophy

Just me and Boss #2 here today. Boss #1 is on a brief family vacation until tomorrow. Two press men phoned in various reasons for why they are not coming in today. I need to work and make money and these guys aren't making it easy to do that this week. The bonus might be that I can get some very long, full days in after Boss #1 returns and the pressroom crew decide to show up.

Trying to make this as expensive as possible

Because the cabinets were not set up in time last week to take advantage of the free installation of appliances by Home Depot, I had to hire a plumber to install and hook up the new gas range. Now, the person in charge of the kitchen renovation tells me the plumber has to come back this week to move the dishwasher one foot from it's current position. The new countertop are and stainless steel sink will have to be installed AFTER the dishwasher is moved. That's three plumber visits at $250 each.
